Methodology

Hugo Lang employs a confidential, formal and comprehensive approach to the marketplace using a targeted in-depth research technique designed to identify the pool of potential candidates who could be missed by conventional methods of recruitment that use advertising or networks, without necessarily excluding these methods.

It maximises the prospect of identifying and attracting the best people available for the role, who are currently successful in their roles, and who may not be actively seeking new opportunities.

The key stages and steps in our Executive Search and Selection approach are as follows:

Stage 1- Research

We commit to investing time and resources at the outset of the project to ensure we have a thorough understanding of your requirements and culture, the role, and your vision for how the person will fit into your organisation.

The key to the rigorous research methodology in the first stage is in the development of the assignment specification and schedule, the targeted scope and transparent planning of the research. This is a critical phase in the overall process and is prepared in confidential consultation with the key decision maker.

Our highly targeted and confidential research identifies only the most relevant and suitable targets for your selection for our direct and discreet approach.

Stage 2 – Shortlist Interviews

Candidates being assessed as most appropriate are prepared for presentation and invited to attend client interviews.
Our consulting staff are highly trained and experienced in the process of senior executive recruitment. We operate within a strict quality system and employ proven behavioural and preference-based interviewing techniques.

In areas of high specialisation, continuous filters have been applied throughout the process, to ensure only highly relevant candidates progress to this stage and are presented to the client.

Hugo Lang will arrange mutually convenient times and venues for shortlisted candidates to be interviewed by the client.

Stage 3 – Selection & Placement

If required, we will also assist with the preparation of interview questions and participate in the client interview and comparative assessment process.

Our involvement at this stage is in consultation with all parties; providing feedback and managing expectations. As part of our service, Hugo Lang offers advice on remuneration levels in line with market requirements with up to date industry specific data. We also provide valuable assistance with the negotiation of the package for the chosen candidate, ensuring that the final offer meets the requirements of the client as well as the successful candidate.

Stage 4 – Performance And Retention

While an executive search assignment will identify, select and attract a key individual for that strategic role that unlocks growth for your organisation, our role does not stop there. While the new appointee settles in, we monitor performance and ensure the best possible conditions exist for retention.
